Program Description: Countless ways are unfolding as we speak around the uses and applications of AI in work and personal life. Do any of us fully understand the potential for AI to benefit our businesses?

Come to this CODPN learning program to learn and about and actively explore some of that potential with a prolific AI entrepreneur and author who is pushing boundaries every day on where AI can be used in the business world, and especially in the work life of all of us in the broad OD field.

Some of the elements of this program:

  • The mindset around seeing AI as a close assistant to aid in multiple functions we have typically handled ourselves, in such a streamlined and rapid fashion that our productivity could skyrocket.
  • Specific examples of ideas for projects and consulting activities in the Learning & Development arena where AI might be a benefit.
  • A demonstration of the creation of a sample training program (for customer service representatives)
  • The chance to discuss all these applications and the potential for each of us to use them in small breakout groups, followed by additional group questions that result, for our presenter.

In particular, our presenter Steve Rosenbaum (see more below), will focus on the following during our 75-minute program:

1. Quick Ways to Improve Your Writing

  • Drafting initial writeups using source materials you may have
  • Getting critical feedback using the Chatbot Review Committee
  • Deep editing that goes well beyond grammar and typos – a series of criteria for revising the writing in stages
  • Teaching AI your personal writing style and using that to improve future drafts

2. Design of a Sample Interactive Training Program for Customer Service Representatives

  • Show the stages of design and revisions as noted earlier for a sample learning program.
  • Use AI to analyze source materials and SME interviews to help build the initial training design.
  • Use AI to critique the draft, identify gaps, and improve the design before presenting it to the client.

Our Presenter Steve Rosenbaum is the founder and CEO of Learning Paths International. He has more than 40 years of experience in learning and performance improvement and is the creator of the Learning Path methodology, an approach designed to reduce the time it takes employees to become fully proficient in their jobs. His work has been applied to more than 2,000 jobs and 100,000 employees, with organizations typically reducing time to proficiency by more than 30%. Steve is also an author and frequent speaker on onboarding, instructional design, performance improvement, and the future of workplace learning.

More recently, Steve has focused on the practical use of artificial intelligence to improve how training is researched, designed, written, reviewed, and implemented. His work explores how AI can help learning professionals analyze large amounts of source material, capture knowledge from subject matter experts, improve writing, critique training designs, and dramatically speed up the development process. His recent books include 50 Ways to Speed Up Instructional Design with AI and Learning at Lightspeed: How AI Is Transforming Learning and Development into a Driver of Organizational Success.

Program Format Presentation, large and small group interactive discussions integrated with Q&A in an informal Zoom atmosphere. We ask that all participants keep their camera on during the entire program to promote involvement and interaction.
