ATD Chicagoland is committed to ethical conduct, professional integrity, and a chapter experience grounded in respect, responsibility, and community trust.

The ATD Code of Ethics provides guidance to members as self-managed talent development professionals. Clients and employers should expect from ATD members the highest possible standards of personal integrity, professional competence, sound judgment, and discretion.

Developed by professionals for the profession, the ATD Code of Ethics is the society’s public declaration of its members’ obligation to themselves, their profession, and society.

As Members of ATD, We Strive To:

Recognize the rights and dignities of each individual.
Develop human potential.
Provide my employer, clients, and learners with the highest-quality education, training, and development.
Comply with all copyright laws and the laws and regulations governing my position.
Keep informed of pertinent knowledge and competence in the workplace learning and performance field.
Maintain confidentiality and integrity in the practice of my profession.
Support my peers and avoid conduct that impedes them from practicing their profession.
Conduct myself in an ethical and honest manner.
Improve the public understanding of workplace learning and performance.
Fairly and accurately represent my workplace learning and performance credentials, qualifications, experience, and ability.
Contribute to the continuing growth of the profession.

ATDChi Code of Ethics & Guidelines for Behavior

Membership in ATDChi carries with it a responsibility to be aware of the importance of ethical conduct.

As Members of ATDChi, We Shall:

Refrain from using ATDChi’s name to market, promote, or in any way encourage the sale of our own products or services.
Use networking during chapter-sponsored activities as a way to meet other talent development professionals who share our common interests, not to inappropriately market our services or seek job referrals.
Refrain from taking part in any transaction in which our own interests may conflict with the best interests of the chapter and its members.
Adhere to the ATD Code of Ethics and Rules of Behavior for National Members.

A Shared Standard

Our code of ethics reflects the standards we hold for ourselves as professionals and as members of the ATD Chicagoland community. It helps shape a chapter culture grounded in respect, integrity, learning, and responsible engagement.
