FALL 2015 Institute: Learning in a Competence-Based World

This interactive two-day Institute will give professionals who work with (and within) competence-based approaches to learning an opportunity to learn, develop and refine specific practices that help learners actually develop the competencies they seek.  This includes strategies and approaches that help learners learn from experience, and apply that learning while enhancing their performance in specific contexts.

Participants Will Learn To:

  • construct competence ‘statements’ (target outcomes) that inspire andguide the development and demonstration of new learning
  • create conditions to enhance individuals’ learning, performance, andself-efficacy
  • help learners—
    • extract learning from experience through various reflectionstrategies
    • collaborate on criteria (benchmarks, rubrics, indicators) andproducts/outputs that demonstrate learning
    • apply learning in specific contexts
